Maintenace Tips For Your Raw Luxury by Lorin Tape In Extensions

Having your tape in extension installed and styled may feel like the best part, but it is not the end of the process. It’s actually the beginning of the entire journey! In order for you to maintain the integrity of your extensions, you need to care for them as you would your natural hair. The following practical tips are a guide that will have your extensions thanking you for a long time.

Why Choose Tape in Extensions Anyway?

Beauty can be costly, especially if you are selective with your hair and beauty products. However, tape in extensions are a beauty option that can have you looking flawless without spending a fortune. Besides being a stunning solution to your hair styling needs, tape ins are versatile enough that you do not need to worry about swimming or going to the gym in them. They are SWEAT AND SWIM APPROVED!!! Yes gal, you heard that right. They aren’t going to have your scalp feeling itchy and overburdened. Tape in extensions are indeed a perfect solution for the beauty who is after a comfortable, natural and flawless look that could pass for their own hair!

How Should I Take Care Of My Tape In Extensions?

  1. Exercise Care When Shampooing, Conditioning, And Styling At Home

Always detangle your natural hair and extensions before you shampoo. Use a paddle brush to gently brush the hair downward to ensure proper detangling. When shampooing your hair, tilt your head back and apply a generous amount of shampoo. Gently massage your hair from the roots towards the ends. Avoid pulling or scrubbing too hard as this could result in the matting and tangling of your tape ins, taking away the natural look.

When conditioning, I highly recommend that you avoid the root area and only focus on the middle part and the ends. We do suggest a leave in conditioning spray that will leave your hair soft and easy to detangle on your roots.

  1. Avoid Damage During Drying

Now that you have properly cleansed your hair, it's time to let it dry! Gently wrap your hair in a soft towel to get rid of the initial moisture. If blow drying it, be sure to apply a heat protectant and keep the heat at medium levels. Start by separating the tapes and drying them section by section. Once 50% of the water has dried out, allow your hair to naturally air dry to completion, or sit under a hooded dryer to ensure your scalp gets dry. You can then style it as desired.

  1. Bottom Up Brushing

Be sure to brush your extensions at least twice a day. If detangling your hair while brushing, start from the ends and then work your way up. Avoid unnecessary pulling by using a brush designed for detangling the hair near the tape attachment. Your stylist should advise you as to what style of brush is best for your type of extensions.

  1. Go Slow On Hot Styling Tools

While tape in hair extensions can be flat ironed and hot curled, it’s important to stay away from heat as much as possible. Because Raw Luxury Extensions are made of real human hair, you need to remember that they are not receiving oils and nutrients from your scalp. The more you subject them to heat, the less time they last. Especially for our curlier textures. Be mindful that heat styling will damage the curl pattern if not properly treated.

Now that your beautiful tape in extensions have been installed, the tips shared in this post should help you keep them feeling and looking fresh! Please only have a professional hair stylist install your extensions. This is not a DIY project! And don't forget.. OUR TAPES ARE REUSABLE!! DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY!!
